Dr. James Worriax, MD

Dr. Worriax is originally from Pembroke, North Carolina. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, which is where he met Jessica, his wife of 17 years. Together they have two wonderful children - their daughter Jayden and their son Jacob.

After graduation from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Worriax completed his residency training in family medicine at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. He has over 12 years of experience in family medicine.

Dr. Worriax is also very involved in ministry. He has furthered his education at the North Carolina College of Theology, receiving both an Associate’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. He serves as both the Executive Pastor & the Youth Pastor for the Sanctuary of Wilmington.

Frank Lovato, PA

Mr Lovato, a former army special forces medic, has joined our practice with over 30 years experience as a Physician Assistant.

He is an Army-trained Physician Assistant who graduated in 1982, well versed in Military Medicine and the medical needs of the military community.

Mr Lovato has been married for 41 years, with four children and has a strong background in family medicine, urgent care and occupational health .

Mrs. Maureen Mitchell PA-C

Mrs. Maureen Mitchell is a nationally certified Physician Assistant originally from South Carolina. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She then received her Master of Biomedical Science online from Liberty University. With a true passion for direct patient care, Maureen returned to school. She graduated with her Master of Medical Science, Physician Assistant from North Greenville University, located in Greer, SC. In Maureen’s leisure time she enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family. Maureen is excited to join the Star Medical Clinic’s team to provide quality health care to the Jacksonville community.

Ms. Kailyn Ward PA-C

Ms. Kaitlyn Ward is a board-certified Physician Assistant originally from Elizabeth City, NC. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from East Carolina University. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her dog, Layla. Kaitlyn is very excited to join Star Medical Clinic and to provide quality health care to the Jacksonville community

Mrs. Amanda Kahler PA-C

Mrs. Amanda Kahler is a board-certified Physician Assistant originally from Simi Valley, CA. Amanda obtained her Bachelor of Science in Molecular & Microbial Biology from California State University, Stanislaus. She later went on to earn her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Gannon University, Ruskin located outside of Tampa, Florida. In her spare time she loves exploring around her community with her husband, reading and watching Friends. Amanda is excited to join the team at Star Medical to help provide care for the community of Jacksonville

Mr. Jeremy Thompson FNP-C

Mr. Thompson is an AANP Board Certified Nurse Practitioner from Wilmington, NC. He

received his BSN from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and went on to earn his MSN from the University of Alabama Birmingham. His nursing background includes emergency medicine, geriatric care, and experience in a walk-in clinic setting. Jeremy is married to his high school sweetheart, Hope, and together they have three young children. In his spare time he enjoys woodworking, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Ms. Mrunmayi Diwan PA-C

Ms. Mrunmayi Diwan is a board certified physician assistant raised in Cary, North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Science at East Carolina University and her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from South University in Richmond, VA. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and significant other, experimenting with different recipes, and watching reality TV and sitcoms.

Mrs. Jennifer Jewell FNP-C

Ms. Jennifer Jewell is an AANP Board Certified family nurse practitioner. She received her Master in
science in Nursing from Duke University. Ms. Jewell has over 20 years of nursing experience spending the last 10 years working with active duty wounded ill and injured service members. Additionally she has extensive experience in palliative care medicine.
Outside of medicine she is always up for a quick trip to Disneyworld and when that isn't possible she enjoys spending time with her family which consist of her husband Aaron, 4 children and 5
grandchildren. Jennifer is honored to be a part of the Star Medical Clinic team and be able to provide exceptional healthcare to those in our community.

Mrs. Michelle Holmes FNP-C

Mrs.Michelle Holmes, I was born in NY, but raised in Florida. I have a husband, a 1yr old daughter and a cat. I love working with my local church and spending time outdoors with my family.

I received a BA in Psychology from Florida International University, a BSN and later an MSN from Chamberlain University with a focus in family practice. I love working with children and their families and am excited to work at star medical.

Dr. Scyoc has been a part of the Medical Field for over 24 years. Dr. Scyoc started in his career as a member of clinical staff and quickly advanced to the role of Clinical Supervisor and finally the Practice Manager of two urgent and primary cares. Dr. Scyoc completed his studies at St. Augustine College with two associate Degrees. Dr. Scyoc also graduated from Penn Foster College With a Bachelor's Of Science In Business and Healthcare management. Later Went back to Provident University and graduated with his Master of Business (MBA) and most recently completed his Ph.D. Doctoral Program in Business and Healthcare Administration .Since then, he has become certified in many areas of health care. Dr. Scyoc believes in higher education for all and helps promote that to his staff and patients. Dr. Scyoc is a member POMAA , Physician Office Managers Association Of America & Urgent care Association of America where he became certified and credentialed. Dr. Scyoc Also has completed Training to be CAOHC Certified as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC). He was also recently honored and recognized by Trademark Who’s Who as a leading professional for demonstrating outstanding dedication, commitment and courage. Dr. Scyoc strives to uphold the highest standards of care for the healthcare profession. Dr. Scyoc believes in Primary & Urgent Care Clinic mission statement "Where patients are our #1 concern" . We are very happy to have Dr. Scyoc as our Chief Executive Officer and now with him at the helm we will grow and give the best quality of care possible .

Pansy Scyoc-Thornton COO,LPN, B.A.T

Mrs. Scyoc-Thornton comes to us with over 25 years’ experience in the medical field. She started her career with OMH in Jacksonville NC were she was a floor nurse for many years until she moved into management for the hospital. After 18 years with OMH She felt it was time to get back to what she loves and that is primary care, for the past few year she has been working for private primary care clinic’s as part of their clinical staff and management team.

Amber Jarvis CCO, RMA, COHC

Mrs. Amber Jarvis started her career in the medical field as a CNA work with the elderly as a assisting living facility. Mrs Jarvis decide to go back to school for billing and coding and got her degree in medical billing. She also went back to school to complete a Medical Assistant program and is now Registered with the American Registry of Medical Assistant Mrs. Jarvis Also has completed Training to be CAOHC Certified as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC). Mrs Jarvis loves spending time at home with her husband John and her dog bailey. Mrs Jarvis goal in life is to give the best care she can and to treat all patients like they are family.
