Dr. James Worriax, MD
Dr. Worriax is originally from Pembroke, North Carolina. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, which is where he met Jessica, his wife of 17 years. Together they have two wonderful children - their daughter Jayden and their son Jacob.
After graduation from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Worriax completed his residency training in family medicine at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. He has over 12 years of experience in family medicine.
Dr. Worriax is also very involved in ministry. He has furthered his education at the North Carolina College of Theology, receiving both an Associate’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. He serves as both the Executive Pastor & the Youth Pastor for the Sanctuary of Wilmington.
Frank Lovato, PA
Mr Lovato, a former army special forces medic, has joined our practice with over 30 years experience as a Physician Assistant.
He is an Army-trained Physician Assistant who graduated in 1982, well versed in Military Medicine and the medical needs of the military community.
Mr Lovato has been married for 41 years, with four children and has a strong background in family medicine, urgent care and occupational health .

Mrs. Samantha Dubay PA-C
Mrs. Samantha Dubay is a board-certified Physician Assistant from Fort Kent, ME. She has 6 years of healthcare experience as a General Surgery Physician Assistant, Phlebotomist, Hospice Volunteer, and Nurses Aide. She obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Health Sciences with a minor in Biology and Psychology from Husson University in Bangor, Maine. She obtained her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Desales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania. Samantha has a passion for increasing healthcare access and thus volunteered at the Allentown Rescue Mission Clinic during her time in graduate school providing healthcare to the homeless population. Samantha is a military wife and is looking forward to providing care to the military community as well. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends,
her 2 cats, and being outdoors kayaking, skiing, mountain biking, and hiking. Samantha is excited to be on the Star Medical Clinic team providing quality and compassionate care to the Jacksonville area
Rebecca Gates PA-C
Ms. Rebecca Gates is a board-certified physician assistant from Hickory, NC. She graduated with university and departmental honors in Exercise Science at Appalachian State University with minors in chemistry and biology. Prior to earning her master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Lenoir-Rhyne University, she worked as a supervisor and medication aide in the dementia unit at a local assisted living facility. With over 7 years of healthcare experience, Rebecca is delighted to be a member of the Star Medical Clinic team and to uphold the standards of exceptional patient care.
Her passions outside of medicine include running, working on DIY projects, and traveling to experience the rewards of differing cultures and environments
Dr. Julie Mallin is a Doctorally prepared Family Nurse Practitioner and ANCC Board Certified Informatics Nurse. She received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Kentucky and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
She and Jim, her husband of 26 years, have three wonderful children. Julie enjoys gardening, kayaking and travel. She is a member of the North Carolina Nurses Association, and the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.
With over 25 years of nursing experience, Julie is extremely excited to join Star Medical Center in providing healthcare to patients of all ages with an emphasis on patient safety and improved quality of care for our community
Mrs. Paula Johnson FNP-C
Mrs. Johnson is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, originally from Harlan, Kentucky. She graduated from Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College with an Associates of Science in Nursing. She obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from King University in Bristol, TN and my Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons University in Boston, MA. Her background includes geriatrics and psychiatric nursing with 18 years total in healthcare. In her free time she enjoy spending time with my husband, two sons, and three dogs, traveling, and enjoying nature. We are excited to having her joining the Star Medical Team
Mrs. Meredith Deily PA-C
Mrs. Meredith Deily is a board-certified Physician Assistant from Wilmington, North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and went on to obtain her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Lenoir-Rhyne University. She was raised in Wilmington and has a passion for giving back to her community and providing patients with the highest standard of care. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her dog Leo, spending time outdoors, and reading. Meredith is honored to join the Star Medical Clinic team and is eager to provide the community with exceptional health care
Mr. Adam Keyser PA-C
Mr. Adam Keyser is a board certified PA from Wilmington NC. He grew up in Pender County NC and enlisted in the US Army in 2006 where he served 2 tours in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division as a parachute infantryman and 1 tour in Egypt with the NC National Guard. He obtained his Associates degree from Cape Fear Community College and his Bachelor's degree from UNCW. Adam worked for several years at New Hanover EMS as a Paramedic before attending PA School at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield Connecticut. Interests include fishing, motorcycles, travel and Science Fiction

Mr. Scyoc has been a part of the Medical Field for over 15 years. Mr. Scyoc started in his career as a member of clinical staff and quickly advanced to the role of Clinical Supervisor and finally the Practice Manager of two urgent and primary cares. Mr. Scyoc completed his studies at St. Augustine College with two associate Degrees. Mr. Scyoc also graduated from Penn Foster College With a Bachelor's Of Science In Business and Healthcare management. Since then, he has become certified in many areas of health care. Mr. Scyoc believes in higher education for all and helps promote that to his staff and patients. Mr. Scyoc is a member POMAA , Physician Office Managers Association Of America & Urgent care Association of America where he became certified and credentialed. Mr. Scyoc Also has completed Training to me CAOHC Certified as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC). He was also recently honored and recognized by Trademark Who’s Who as a leading professional for demonstrating outstanding dedication, commitment and courage. Mr. Scyoc strives to uphold the highest standards of care for the healthcare profession. Mr. Scyoc believes in Primary & Urgent Care Clinic mission statement "Where patients are our #1 concern" . Mrs. Scyoc-Thornton comes to us with over 25 years’ experience in the medical field. She started her career with OMH in Jacksonville NC were she was a floor nurse for many years until she moved into management for the hospital. After 18 years with OMH She felt it was time to get back to what she loves and that is primary care, for the past few year she has been working for private primary care clinic’s as part of their clinical staff and management team.

Mrs. Amber Jarvis started her career in the medical field as a CNA work with the elderly as a assisting living facility. Mrs Jarvis decide to go back to school for billing and coding and got her degree in medical billing. She also went back to school to complete a Medical Assistant program and is now Registered with the American Registry of Medical Assistant Mrs. Jarvis Also has completed Training to me CAOHC Certified as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC). Mrs Jarvis loves spending time at home with her husband John and her dog bailey. Mrs Jarvis goal in life is to give the best care she can and to treat all patients like they are family.
